A Day At The Orange County Pet Expo Print E-mail
Saturday, 12 April 2008

ImageWe spent eight hours at the Pet Expo in Orange County yesterday in the Labrador Retriever exhibit.  Tank and Jack came along.  They had a blast meeting and greeting people.  The expo is great for people to get to meet different breeds.  There is no selling of dogs allowed at the expo.  It's just a day where people can see different breeds and also see dogs from local shelters.  Adoptions from rescues and shelters are permitted, but not from breeders, which is fine.  Breeders want a much more intimate setting to meet potential families than the expo would provide.  However, it allows families to see the dogs and meet the different breeds, in order to evaluate the best breed for them.  Labradors do a fine job of selling the breed, as the photos on our candid camera page demonstrate.

The three local Labrador clubs help pay for the booth, but sadly, few individuals from clubs other than the High Desert LRC actually participate personally with their dogs.  Wayne Martin has made this his special project, and designs the booth.  The Lab booth got a first place ribbon at the expo yesterday.  We try to participate every year.  It’s a great way to socialize the dogs, and a great way to show people how wonderful this breed is.

As you can see, we’ve had a busy few days.  Our live webcam is back on today.  Enjoy!

Pawsitive Quotes

Would somebody please explain to me those signs that say, "No animals allowed except for Seeing Eye Dogs?" Who is that sign for? Is it for the dog, or the blind person?
