Oh yes! Labradors have a double coat (longer top coat, and downy undercoat that keeps them dry). These two types of coat help keep the dog warm and dry while swimming in cold waters when retrieving ducks. Labradors will shed *both coats* twice a year. This is called "blowing" their coat (it's not called "blowing" for nothing!). Some Labradors shed less than others. Labradors should be brushed on a regular basis (weekly).
